Luxemburg-Casco Wrestling has enjoyed a long and storied history in Wisconsin wrestling. Starting under George Gregor from 1924 to 1949. Gregor wrestled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for three years. In Gregor’s 25 years at the helm of Luxemburg wrestling he had one state champion.
In 1950, Gregor handed the reigns over to Frank Chalupa who in 25 seasons compiled a 224-46-5 dual meet record. Chalupa coached 68 state qualifiers, 16 state place winners and 2 state champions. In the 1967-68 school year, Luxemburg School District merged with the Casco School District to create the Luxemburg-Casco School District.
In 1974, Emil Kuhn took over for the retired Frank Chalupa and continued the success at L-C over 25 years earning a 318-55-2 dual meet record. To go along with the dual met record his teams earned Team State Championships in 1992, 1994, 1996, and 1999. Emil is a member of the George Martin Hall of Fame and National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Emil also coached 77 state qualifiers, 61 state place winners, and 9 state champions.
In 1999 Bob Berceau took over as Spartan Head Coach and as of 2010 has a 197-30 dual meet record. He has coached 55 state place winners and 19 state champions have been crowned under Berceau’s watch. Berceau has also led the Spartans to Team State Titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013 and in 2007 and 2011 were state runners up.
