And so it began...

"When George Gregor started the wrestling program at Luxemburg in 1924-25, he had some ladies sew him a mat, and when his boys wrestled, they had to hold the corners down so that no wrestler would get hurt."
Not every coach can empathize with that, for it is one of the pioneering efforts needed in that time, and George Gregor was a leader. Many years, only two or three matches could be scheduled because there were few teams in that area, however, Luxemburg had matches every year. Even though most of the schools they wrestled were much larger, they had a winning record, and several undefeated seasons.
George wrestled 3 years on the Varsity at Madison at 158 pounds, and as a freshman won the University Championship. He also coached the College of Agriculture Wrestling Team to the intramural championship in 1922. George Martin in a letter to Fendley Collins at Michigan State University in 1956 wrote, "I have known George Gregor personally since 1936 or 37 and know he has done a great deal to help the image of interscholastic wrestling in Wisconsin. Besides providing interest in enthusiasm, he has given wrestling a dignity essential to its progress here."
George Gregor is indeed one of a few.

The Next Step....

Frank took over the helm at Luxemburg-Casco in 1949 and resigned in 1974, after 25 years of coaching. There has never been a losing season. Over all for that 25 years, the records stands at 212 wins, 42 losses and 3 ties.
There has been two undefeated seasons, 1954-55, 1963-64, and 9 seasons with only one loss.
In Frank's 25 years, there has been 7 Invitational Championships, 46 Invitational Tourney Champs, 7 Conference Team Championships, 45 Individual Champions, 25 Regional Champions, 7 Regional Team Championships, 50 Sectional Qualifiers, 34 Sectional Champions, 5 Sectional Team Titles, 42 State Qualifiers, 16 State Place Winners, and 2 State Champions.
Frank's team was the only team to beat Coleman when they were on top, and they did it three times.
Frank was an official for about 20 years, and was a recipient of the 20 year Service Award by the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association.

Emil Kuhn

A foundation is built for continued success...

Emil Kuhn was introduced to wrestling as a freshman at Oconto High School in 1963, the Varsity Wrestling Coach at Oconto was Jerry Barr. While at Oconto, Kuhn was voted Most Valuable Player and Captain of both the football and wrestling teams. The Varsity wrestling coach at Oconto High School was now Don Hartman. Due to Coach Hartman's encouragement and support, Kuhn enrolled in Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. As a member of the Wildcat Wrestling team at Northern, Kuhn compiled a record of 49-9-2.
Upon graduation from Northern in 1971, Kuhn became the elementary physical education instructor and assistant wrestling coach in the Luxemburg-Casco School District. The Assistantship at Luxemburg-Casco gave Kuhn the opportunity to work with, and learn from Frank Chalupa. Coach Chalupa started his wrestling coaching career in Luxemburg Union High School in 1949, the year Kuhn was born. In 1974, with Chalupa's coaching retirement, Kuhn assumed the position of head wrestling coach.
Uniquely, Kuhn is only the third head wrestling coach in history at Luxemburg-Casco. His two predecessors were George Gregorand Frank Chalupa, and both charter members in the George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Kuhn has had the privilege of working with many outstanding individuals. While trying to emulate these people, Kuhn has demonstrated his sincere interest in the welfare and development of the young people around him. Stephen Pearson, former supervising principal at the Luxemburg-Casco Elementary School reflects. "His concern for the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the boys and girls in our district extended beyond the concerns usually seen in coaches for members of their teams. He has been a counselor, a surrogate parent, encouraging young people to do their best on the court, on the floor, on the mat and in the classroom.
Kuhn's current dual meet record stands at 179-37-2. His teams have won 11 Packerland Conference Championships and placed second the other five seasons. He has coached 63 individual conference champions. There have been 11 WIAA Regional team championships and 6 Sectional championship teams at Luxemburg-Casco since 1974. Kuhn has coached 68 individual regional and 18 sectional champions. Individually, there have been 41 WIAA State qualifiers and 23 place winners. Bob Berceau, a three time state champion and Division III National Champion was a letter winner for Kuhn, as was Joe Wypiszenski, a three time All-American in Division II.
As for the wrestling community, Kuhn served on the WIAA wrestling rules Advisory Committee from 1983-85, was District Four WWCA Representative from 1979-81 and again in 1985-87. In 1987, Kuhn was elected WWCA Secretary and in 1988 WWCA President-elect. Since 1974, Kuhn has been team leader and coach of the Northeast Wisconsin - Chicago Cultural Exchange Teams. Kuhn officiates at freestyle tournaments, and has been registered WIAA wrestling official for 15 years.

Bob Berceau

The pride of the program expands the programs success​...
​A graduate of Luxemburg-Casco High School, Bob was a three-time state wrestling champion. Earning WIAA state titles in 1983, 1985 and 1986. He finished his high school career with a record of 106-12. After high school, he enrolled at Northern Michigan University. During his sophomore year, Berceau placed second in the NCAA Division II national tournament, but the Wildcats dropped their wrestling program the following year and Bob transferred to UW-Stevens Point. Bob was the first two-time All-American and first National Champion wrestler at UW-Stevens Point. He is also a member of the Pointers wrestling All-History team at 134 pounds. He finished his career with 107 wins. In 1989, he was named First-team All-District, and crowned NCAA Division III National Champion at 134 pounds. He finished his career at UW Stevens point becoming a 3 time All-American. Bob would like to give special thanks to his coaches through the years. Bob graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 1991 with a degree in resource management and began his career working & owning his own Business (Berceau Soil & Septic LLC.)
Bob began coaching as an assistant under Emil Kuhn for eight years before becoming head coach in 2000. As an assistant he helped coach 4 State Team titles. As head Coach Bob has coached 5 Team state championships & 1 runner-up, 18 state champions, 52 state place winners, 65 individual state qualifiers, & 8 sectional team championships. Bob gives a lot of the credit of his success in coaching to the wrestling program. No team can be as successful from one person, there are a lot of people behind the scene. Bob is the son of Peter & Theresa Berceau, he has 3 older brothers & 1 younger sister. He married Shelly Worachek in 1991 and has 4 children, Danielle, Mitch, Mason & Demi.
